Q: What is "Pure Phonix"?
A: Pure Phonix is an internet radio site set up by
and for the members of the Pure Pwnage community. ^top
Q: Why?
A: Many moons ago, there was a CSS Clan for Pure Pwnage.
The clan's site had a radio station similar to this one which many Pure
Pwnage community members both from the clan and the comunity in general
enjoyed listening to while pwning noobz in their various games. When
the clan collapsed however, so too did the station, and many of us were
sad. Recently, some smart-ass by the name of ViRuS52
decided it'd be a great idea to make a new site designed to broadcast
to the whole community and re-live those happy days. Everybody rejoyced,
and thus it was so. And besides, who DOESNT enjoy listening to some
"Bangin' Choonz!" ;)
^top
Q: Is this site an official part of ROFLMAO Productions?
A: Pure Phonix is set up for, by and dedicated to the
community following of ROFLMAO Productions. It is recognised by the
team, and it is also currently the only one in existance. So for all
intents and purposes - yes. ^top
Q: How do I listen in?
A: On the main site (which you are probably looking
at now if you are reading this!) you should see to the right hand side
a box that says "Listen", with a built-in flash MP3 player.
Simply click the play button and give it a moment to buffer! Failing
that, some people enjoy listening to Pure Phonix from stand-alone music
players such as Winamp or Windows Media Player. To do this, simply click
the "Download" link imediatly below the embeded player, or
alternatively, point your browser to http://listen.purephonix.com
for the same effect. After the download is finished, you should be able
to simply drag+drop the .pls file you have recieved into most music
player programs. ^top
Q: <FEATURE X> on your site doesnt work
/ I have a complaint / Suggestion / Feature Request. Where can I voice
this?
A: You may voice your opinions, complaints, suggestions
and technical support issues on the Pure
Phonix Forums, or in the official
Pure Phonix thread on the Pure Pwnage forums. You may also want
to check out the Known Issues
page. ^top
Q: Why cant this be on 24/7?
A: While we are still building a DJ list, things will
seem a little sporadic, because obviously none of us can be on to play
for 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Things will however become more consistant
as we fill the slots, so just be patient while we are in this phase
of broadcasting ;) ^top
Q: Status page says "Server is down."
Does this mean the site is broken?
A: No. Shoutcast says this to indicate that no one
is currently broadcasting. If the shoutcast server itself goes down
there will be a news anouncement on the main Pure Phonix page indicating
so. ^top
Q: 128kbps and a max of 30 listeners?
isnt that a bit... shit?
A: We *CAN* have up to 2500 listeners and a bitrate
of up to 1024kbps, but obviously this would be *VERY* expensive. For
now, the current limit is more than sufficient. At time of writing,
our average listener count is about 10, so we arent even close to maxing
it out just yet. Also BBC radio uses 64kbps for their online radio and
we feel that this is a very acceptable quality. On top of that, we have
plenty of room to upgrade as demand grows, so dont worry your pretty
lil' 'eds bout caps and limits ;)
^top
Q: Who are the site admins?
A: Current SHOUTcast admins are ViRuS52,
Mr.Clean,
Melonqueen,
and Hero_Swe.
^top
Q: What the *FUCK* is a "set"??
A: A "Set" is a time slot which a certain
DJ (or DJs) will play out a specific theme (usually a musical genre
but not always).
^top
Q: Are DJ's able to co-host with
other DJ's?
A: Short answer - yes! We have conducted quite a few
tests now, and DJ's are indeed able to co-host. This can be done using
a pre-recording and simply playing the set as a track, or live using
VoIP software such as skype, voice chatrooms like Ventrillo or Teamspeak,
and possibly some other ways that we havent even thought of yet. As
it stands, Ventrillo is our prefered method, and the official Pure Pwnage
vent has a couple of rooms dedicated specificly to Pure Phonix that
can be used.
^top
Q: Will you be able to take live
callers and run competitions like real radio stations?
A: Again, a feature we have experimented with and now
know we can support. Its just a case of ironing out the few remaining
bugs before it starts to become a regular feature of Pure Phonix broadcasts.
Implamentation of this is similar to cohosting.
^top
Q: Do you plan any "Marathon"
or "Holiday" type of events?
A: We do indeed have plans for marathons and other
special events involving most (if not hopefully all) the Pure Phonix
staff. Keep an eye out for news of these events ;)
^top
Q: I fancy myself as a DJ. Where
do I sign up?
A: The best way is to post a thread on the Pure
Phonix forums asking for a trial. Information needed includes a
clear idea for a theme for your set, availablility (IE when you can
DJ), any experiance you may have, and any other information that you
think we may find useful. More information is available around the forums,
and in the Official
Pure Phonix Thread over at Pure Pwnage.
^top
Q: I think your site looks gay.
A: Why thank you, so do you ;)
^top
Q: Is the cake a
lie?
A: Yes. ^top
Q: Is there a
secret cow level?
A: No... or *IS* there?!
D: ^top
Q: How are you gentlemen?
A: All your base are belong to
us ^top
Q: I'm getting a strange error!
A: Some errors are caused by general n00bishness on the users part, but there are a few exceptions!
